The Beauty In Less
This weekend after reading the Sunday paper (The Sunday Times) I came across an interesting article that really got me thinking. The article was about the 4 year draught that has been going on in Kenya. The drought has pushed 4m people to the “brink of starvation” and means their crops have been all but wiped out.

What really captured me about this article, being a designer and photographer, is the images that were used to present this piece. They were vivid and described the area perfectly, but what really got my attention is the way that even in the face of complete deprivation, the care and eye to detail, that has been presented by these villagers, really made me stop and look. Even in the most simple of constructions, the way that they have made their homes individual, and visually stunning, reminds me of how design is not just for those who have the means to make it their living, but for anyone who takes pride in their day to day lives.
