Newish Belts
The reason that I say newish, is because they’re new for me, in reality the age of these belts is probably about 30 years or more. One of them even had a sticker on it for $8.
I got hold of them two summers ago when I was rooting through the closets of my grandmas house and came across a plethora of sweet belts that used to belong to my grandpa. Unfortunately he was about a size 38, so I could really only wear these belts if the trousers that I was wearing fit perfectly, which really defeats the purpose of a belt. I took them anyways, thinking that I might one day put on some weight, and would need some new belts.
However, I really did not want to wait until I put on weight, or come to think of it, put on weight at all. So recently I had been thinking about how to shorten these belts, and the best that I could come up with was to cut it in half, take out some of the section, and then sew it back together, creating an unsightly overlap. I didn’t think that this would work so I left it. It was only when I came home for easter and my dad had talked about how he had removed the bit by the buckle, shortened it, and then sewed it back in place, leaving no trace of the work that had been done. I thought this was genius, so as soon as I got the chance, I shortened four belts, that I can now actually wear.
Just out of curiosity I was looking online to see what kind of similar belts I could find, and I came across a few quality examples from Ralph Lauren, check them out.
